To maximize value, Urban Artisan believes every new development has a unique solution that incorporates the interests of all stakeholders including investors, inhabitants and the city at large. This solution is reached only by addressing every aspect a building affects and every factor that affects a building. The role of the developer is thus to orchestrate a process based on integrity, economy and expertise and attained through collaboration towards a shared purpose. Because development is challenging, Urban Artisan consciously seeks out difficult projects to attain a competitive edge.

People.

David Finehirsh - Principal

David is the Founder and Principal of Urban Artisan, a development firm located in New York City. He is currently developing a project in the center of Harlem that will be the first ‘Passive House’ multi-family condominium in Manhattan, expecting an 80+% reduction in energy costs. His familiarity with both the transaction and execution process provides him with a breadth of knowledge that includes the financial, legal, market, investment, zoning, design, leasing, environmental and construction issues and their interrelationships. David’s experience ranges from land acquisition to large-scale ground-up construction, encompassing the residential, commercial, retail and hospitality sectors. He has worked at some of the world’s most renowned firms in the United States, Italy and India, including SOM and Tishman-Speyer. He currently is a member of the Brown Real Estate Group’s Steering Committee leading initiatives to promote dialogue to advance the real estate industry. David’s academic credentials include a Master's degree in Real Estate from Columbia, a Master’s degree in Architecture from Yale, and an Undergraduate degree in Applied Mathematics from Brown.
